Vikings WR Greg Childs (torn patellar tendons) caught passes in front of reporters following Tuesday's OTA practice.
He also dunked a ball over the crossbar before exiting the field. "I've been cutting like that for a good little while now," Childs said. "I'm taking it day by day. I feel good, but at the same time, the Vikings aren't rushing me. That's why I'm doing so well now." He remains a long shot for any substantive 2013 impact.

Vikings SLB Chad Greenway will have his knee scoped Wednesday, but is expected to be "fine" for training camp.
An MRI revealed some things that "needed to (be cleaned) up," but nothing serious. Greenway hasn't missed a game since becoming a starter in 2007, so there's every reason to believe he'll be ready for camp. Greenway graded out as the No. 21 4-3 outside linebacker in Pro Football Focus' 2012 ratings.
The Vikings are giving seventh-round OL Travis Bond a shot to earn swing-tackle duties.
Bond played guard at North Carolina, but has tackle size at 6-foot-6, 329 with 35.5-inch arms. "I think I can do it," Bond said. The Vikings are thin behind starting tackles Matt Kalil and Phil Loadholt, but limited athletically, we doubt Bond has the skill to make the transition from ACC guard to NFL tackle as a rookie.
Coach Leslie Frazier said Kyle Rudolph is "so much more sure of himself" this season.
Operating as an in-line tight end for the first time in his career last season, Rudolph struggled everywhere but the red zone. He averaged just 9.3 YPC, dropped six passes and was held under 40 yards 11 times. He finished as fantasy's No. 9 tight end thanks to nine touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. Now that Christian Ponder is taking a step forward and Rudolph is more comfortable, he has a shot to show more consistency between the 20s. He's on the back end of the TE1 radar.
Vikings CB Jacob Lacey underwent surgery to repair a dislocated thumb on Wednesday.
It's unclear how long Lacey will be sidelined, but we would be surprised if the former Lions and Colts corner wasn't ready for camp. Lacey was seeing reps as the second-string slot corner in OTAs behind Josh Robinson. Pro Football Focus graded Lacey as the 63rd-best cornerback in 2012. He has 36 career starts.

Vikings RE Jared Allen said he's not pushing to talk about a new contract with Minnesota.
Allen, who will make close to $14.3 million in 2013, didn't commit to whether he would entertain contract talks in-season with Minnesota. Allen has the pass-rush skill teams crave, but he doesn't figure to get close to the monster money he received in 2008 when it's time to sign his next deal. He will be 32 in April 2014.

Vikings RE Jared Allen (shoulder) won't practice until training camp.
Allen is present for minicamp, but won't take the field. Coach Leslie Frazier says Allen's shoulder is "great," but the team has no reason to push the envelope with its pass-rushing linchpin. Going into the final year of his contract, Allen hasn't missed a game since 2007.
