Arian Foster - RB - Houston Texans

Arian Foster (calf) says he'll "more than likely" be ready for training camp.

It's notable because Foster is suggesting there's a chance he won't be ready for camp, even if it's a slight one. It was widely assumed when Foster went down in late May that he'd be 100 percent for camp, which is still over a month away. Foster has spent time in a hyperbaric chamber in an attempt to speed his recovery. It sounds like he would have missed multiple games were it the regular season. Foster has missed just three contests since 2010, but his increasing propensity for leg ailments is a concern going into his age-27 campaign.

Dennis Johnson - RB - Houston Texans

Rookie RB Dennis Johnson has reportedly been the most impressive undrafted free agent in the Texans' offseason program.

A favorite of Rotoworld draft guru Josh Norris, Johnson is undersized (5'7/196) but fits the Texans' system "ideally" per beat writer John McClain. Johnson is experienced in blitz pickup and an excellent receiver out of the backfield. He ran 4.48 at the Arkansas Pro Day. Johnson is competing with Cierre Wood and Ray Graham for one or two roster spots behind Arian Foster and Ben Tate.

Derek Newton - T - Houston Texans

Coach Gary Kubiak is concerned with the Texans' right tackle position.

The Texans practiced without their top two right tackles during OTAs and minicamp. Derek Newton (knee) started 14 games last season, and had offseason surgery to repair his patellar tendon. Brennan Williams (knee), a third-round pick from North Carolina, injured his knee in rookie minicamp in May. Both are expected to be ready for training camp on July 26.

D.J. Swearinger - DB - Houston Texans

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said he thinks rookie S D.J. Swearinger is "going to be a big contributor early."

With Ed Reed (hip) sidelined, Swearinger saw significant reps in OTAs and minicamp. "He's very smart in picking things up with what we're doing," Kubiak said. While the initial plan was to use Swearinger in dime packages and on special teams, Reed's timetable remains unclear. There's a strong possibility Swearinger could see time as a starter early in the season.

Brian Cushing - LB - Houston Texans

Texans ILB Brian Cushing (ACL surgery) expects to receive full medical clearance on July 17.

Texans training camp starts on July 26. On the 17th, Cushing will fly to Pensacola (FL) to meet with Dr. James Andrews. Cushing has no doubt he'll get the go-ahead. "I'm basically doing everything I could be doing right now," he said. "I feel great and very confident heading into camp."

Dwight Jones - WR - Unsigned Free Agent

Texans waived WR Dwight Jones from reserve-did not report list.

James had some talent in college, but lacked passion for the game. He never reported to the Texans after agreeing to terms as an undrafted free agent last season.

DeVier Posey - WR - Houston Texans

Texans WR DeVier Posey (Achilles') has resumed on-field running and agility work.

Posey is rehabbing on the side field just five months after tearing his Achilles' in the Divisional Round. He's still a good bet to begin the year on the PUP list, but it's clear Posey will get on the field at some point in 2013.
