Dallas: Until Brenden Morrow went down with a knee injury, you always felt like the Stars were on the verge of turning things around. Marty Turco struggled, then he looked good. The defense struggled, then it stabilized.

The team missed Sergei Zubov, then he returned. But the Morrow injury is devastating, and the Stars aren't showing any signs that they plan to cut down on the turnovers that have been killing them.

"We have a snowball happening here that eventually it has to take a solid 60 minutes to dig ourselves out of it," Mike Modano told Tracey Myers of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram after Monday's loss. "Right now, we just seem to find ways to shoot ourselves."

Might be time for a drastic change in the Big D.

If it weren't for the Lightning, the Panthers' 2.30 goals per game would be the worst in the league. The Panthers miss Olli Jokinen, and they haven't adequately replaced him at center. Now there's rumors Jay Bouwmeester will be moved for help in the middle, with Ottawa's Jason Spezza the most likely target. The Panthers could certainly do worse.
