Kennard shines at USC's Rising Star Camp

Defensive end dismantles nation's best offensive line prospects

Phoenix Desert Vista defensive end Devon Kennard is the nation’s No. 5 player. But that after seeing him dismantle some of the nation’s best line prospects, there's a serious argument for him being the nation’s top prospect overall.

Badger Blitz
Ohio State and Michigan aren’t the only teams reeling in big commitments in the Big Ten. Wisconsin has been on a tear lately, picking up five commitments in the past 10 days.

Most of the new pledges have come following the Badgers’ summer camp, and only one of Wisconsin’s commitments isn’t ranked at least a three-star prospect.

During that run, Wisconsin picked up two of Ohio’s best-kept secrets in athlete Chris Borland and tight end Brian Wozniak. Borland, who could play linebacker or in the backfield, earned MVP honors at the Nike Camp at Ohio State. Wozniak is an athletic tight end who should have had more offers than the 10 or so he had.

Throw in the recent commitments of running back Montee Ball, quarterback Jon Budmayr and defensive linemen Shelby Harris and Jordan Kohout, and Bret Bielema is well on his way to assembling one of the Big Ten’s best classes. A lot credit should also be given to recruiting coordinator Randall McCray for his work this summer.

Etc.
• West Virginia is quietly assembling a nice class. The Mountaineers have 11 commitments, all of whom are ranked three stars or higher. The addition late last week of three-star lineman Pat Eger of Jefferson Hills (Pa.) Thomas Jefferson was another nice get for WVU.

• Four-star quarterback Tate Forcier of San Diego Scripps Ranch recently reduced his list to 10 schools: Arizona State, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oregon, Penn State, Stanford, Texas A&M and Washington State.

• Hoboken, N.J., four-star defensive tackle Isaac Holmes could decide on a school next week. Speculation is that it’s down to Rutgers and Maryland, with the Terps holding a slight edge.
